Useful Uses…

Saw this some time ago on TV. The crafter said that it is a fruit basket and he made it with disposable plastic shot cups and a glue gun. It is fun and easy to make unfortunately, I can’t remember the name of the program or the link that was put up at the end. Oh well, all you need do is

  • Get one of the cups.
  • Glue other cups round it. For this part, you will need 6 to go round the first one.
  • Keep sticking the cups round and round.
  • By now hopefully, it should be making sense.
  • Remember to follow the same direction. What I mean is if you started clockwise or anticlockwise, maintain that direction. Learnt this the hard way.

You can use it as a fruit basket or upside down as a decorative item. It will make a nice gift as well. Mine is in my room holding bits and bobs and it is so so cute. You should try it. Thanks TV guy wherever you are.

Oh, and this is the one I made with a slight variation of course 😉

Am sure everyone likes nice pictures, I don’t just mean the images but those that convey messages as well. I have divided the ones I have into two categories; funny and inspirational. I hope to update them with time.

P.S. Do note that I do not claim that they are mine, They are just here to entertain. If anyone of them is yours and you want me to take them down or reference you, just send me a message aight.

How To Quickly Wrap A Christmas Present: A Short Tutorial

Sometimes I kid myself that I can wrap gifts, ‘after all, its just wrapping yeah, how hard can it be?’ Then the hard work begins, and the ‘why did I not just do this in the shop?’ question pops up in between. After some time I start asking for help and when I don’t find any, the ‘hope you don’t mind’ speech follows when presenting it.

So one lucky day, I saw some guy wrapping a gift and I watched keenly. It was not until I heard him say: ‘yeah that’s how, easy huh,’ that I realized I had said out loud: ‘so that is how it is done?’ Oh well, I tried it today, 3rd march, 2013, with some variations and I was  proud of myself. I was so proud that I decided to show how it is done, someone might benefit from it. It is so easy that I did it in less than five minutes. First time ever!!!

So Here It Goes.

Materials

  • Wrapping sheet.
  • Sellotape.
  • A pair of scissors.

JAZZING UP YOUR YOU-ness!!

I have thought and thought about what to make as my first tutorial. Wrote a complete tutorial on how to crochet the easiest tote ever. It can be crocheted or sewn in a couple of hours but then, there are so many tutorials on making very beautiful bags. So I left it, might post it later.

I decided to make something else, something that can be used for a lot of things by both guys and girls. This item can be used for almost anything, just use your imagination, I have thought of some uses already and all you have to do is string them to make:

  • pendants,
  •  key holders,
  • bracelets,
  • car decorations,
  • necklaces,
  • earrings,
  • rings and
  • cufflinks.

The list goes on and on. Gift ideas just got better right? Continue reading

One of those songs…

I watched a movie called The Piano Lesson last year (2012). It was a bit spooky but I liked one song. I did a little research and found the name: “Berta Berta”. A sad song, yes but captivating. You should listen to it.

There are two versions I like, one that was sang by a man called Branford Marsalis and the one from the movie. It starts at 0:31:00 and a bit funny at the end of the song. 🙂

This link is for the lyrics in case you find it difficult to hear the words.

Hope you like it.

We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing.

An 87 Year Old College Student Named Rose.

The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn’t already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned round to find a wrinkled little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being. She said, “Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I’m eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?” I laughed and enthusiastically responded, “Of course you may!” and she gave me a giant squeeze. “Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?” I asked. Kudos To You :-)

I just want to commend everyone that has placed a tutorial in any form. Still struggling to write my first one. I picked an easy craft but the problem now is writing it in such a way that another person will be able to understand it.

This is not the first time I have tried; the routine is try, give up and try again. Oh well, I will just write one and hopefully work with the feedback I get.

High five to you that has succeeded in writing one.

Always remember to be thankful for what you have.

Someone sent this to me sometime last year, I read and saved it because it touched a chord. I hope it touches you too.

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. Continue reading
